This time of year always brings to mind that famous Santa story “The Night Before Christmas.” Sadly however, and with apologies to Clement C. Moore, many children are not “nestled all snug in their beds; while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.” *1 No – sadly, today I want to talk about a more serious topic and that is the many children who are dreaming of something other than a white Christmas or sugarplums. What they are dreaming of instead is warm shelter and food. Not just yummy holiday treats but any kind of food. That’s why the Brinkley Dental family is collecting food for the Salvation Army this year. To help ensure other families enjoy a happy holiday with a full belly.
The Salvation Army Food Bank is a charitable organization that Brinkley Dental, located in Brampton, is proud to support. Because we know not everyone is dreaming of a white Christmas, we want to help those families who just need to know there will be enough food on the table for a healthy meal every day. You can help us be a part of this initiative by joining us, and together with our patients, as we hold a non-perishable food drive supporting local Brampton families.
The Salvation Army Food Bank is located on Torbram Drive and we are happy to share some important information from their website, to help you understand where and how your donations are put to work, right here in our own community. Here’s what they have to say:
Emergency food and clothing, a listening ear, community referrals, advocacy and other support is provided for those who find themselves at a point of crisis. We wish to try and assist you and give you hope and encouragement by providing some tangible help for your situation. If you require the assistance of the Food Bank, you will find a friend who wants to help. (…) *2
Please consider joining our efforts and support the Salvation Army Food Bank by visiting Brinkley Dental. You can drop off a donation at any time whether or not you are one of our patients. Our patients are invited to bring along a donation to their next appointment and you can be sure the Brinkley Dental family will be donating in abundance. Please help us spread a little holiday cheer and help us help children and families have a full belly this year. For all of our regular readers, today we’ll end a little differently than usual and quote Santa who said, (at least according to Clement C. Moore,) “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!” *3
